What Lurks on the Edge is a visually striking contemporary work that examines the resurgence of coercive power and the ways individuals become entangled within it.

This is Australian choreographer Lina Limosani’s most ambitious work to date. It fuses contemporary dance, sleight of hand and black-art illusion to reimagine the 17th-century tale of Bluebeard—a story of a forbidden chamber and a man whose wealth and status conceals violence.

Where most retellings position Bluebeard as monster and wife as victim, this work asks a more disturbing question: how does a system of coercive power reproduce itself through the very women it has already consumed?

Performed by four women, the piece reveals what the system makes of women over time.
